This page serves
as a place for visitors to learn
about Minerva, including who we
are, where we came from, what
our goals and objectives are,
and the direction we see
ourselves going. If you have any
questions/comments at all about
our guild, please do not
hesitate to contact us and we'll
be glad to respond.
Who is Minerva?
Minerva is a tight knit group of
gamers that thrives on strong
friendships built over years of
gaming. Competitive and
dedicated, we strive to better
ourselves as gamers, conquering
personal goals and developing
the teamwork and friendship that
makes end game content
profitable and fun. While it's
true that we are a tight knit
bunch, new players are always
welcome into the fold; however,
becoming a member of Minerva is
no trivial matter.
We are determined to make sure
that not only are new applicants
a good fit for us, but that we
are a good fit for them. We want
to open our family to players
who have the same mindset that
truly makes every member fit in,
regardless of what background
they come from. We look for
players who wish to be able to
log into the game and chat or
play with buddies any time they
feel like it, while also being
able to turn their game face
during times of need, allowing
us to rival the best.
The History Of Our Guild
Minerva was formed on January
12, 2006, but our past
originates back to the World Of
Warcraft launch date.
Originally, we created a guild
called Minerva on the
Alleria(PvE) server. From there,
all of our friends from
LineageII and Earth & Beyond
joined the roster and we began
leveling our characters. In
January of 2005, we reformed
under the name Defenders Of The
Duck, and continued our
recruitment process, meeting
entirely new and great people
who we grew to call friends. In
the following months, we began
raiding with other guilds in
Molten Core and Onyxia,
attempting to learn the
strategies and get a feel for
the World Of Warcraft raiding
game. A few months later, we
boasted a roster of over 90
active unique members, and were
having great successes of our
own in Molten Core and Onyxia's
Lair.
Unfortunately, Defenders Of The
Duck started heading down a
downward spiral. Some players
wanted different things out of
the game than others, some were
having conflicting personal
issues with other members, and
the stress was starting to pour
onto all of the members. Our
attempts to raid 40-man
instances internally within our
guild required us to grow too
big too fast; we were bursting
at the seams and were blinded by
our desire to conquer Molten
Core. Many of the former members
relocated to various other
guilds on the server, while many
others decided to take a few
months break from the game, and
in time return - on a new server
with a fresh start here on
Mannoroth.
We have learned a lot through
our past experiences, and have
taken the time to properly set
in place our guidelines, goals,
and objectives. Our new
structure features a full
featured recruitment application
system, and is designed to
accommodate a fixed amount of
unique members and classes.
Minerva boasts highly skilled
players with attitudes and heart
where it counts, and promises to
grow to be a dominating force on
Mannoroth, both through PvE and
PvP progression. We would like
to thank all the individuals who
we have shared memories with in
the past, and look forward to
meeting new players in the
future.
Our Raiding Alliance
On April 25, 2006, a raiding
alliance was born on Mannoroth
between Minerva & Nintendorks.
Originally founded to help two
smaller guilds progress through
20 man instance content such as
Zul'Gurub, this alliance dubbed
the 'Mintendorks' alliance has
truly grown and blossomed to
become much more than a group of
players trying to fill up slots
in a raid. With officers on both
sides of the alliance striving
to further push our members into
the deepest & darkest of
dungeons, and members who bring
both the attitude and
willingness to learn at each
obstacle, it is absolutely
certain the Mintendorks alliance
will be successful in our goals
to experience, and be successful
in, content that requires such a
high amount of planning and
execution. The Mintendorks
Alliance works together to
conquer the new 25 man raid
instances in The Burning
Crusade.
